Ingredients

  • 500 g beef steak, cut into bite-sized cubes any premium cut like ribeye or sirloin works beautifully
  • 2 tablespoons butter for that rich, luxurious coating
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil helps prevent the butter from burning
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced the heart of this dish's flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt to enhance all the flavors
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly cracked if possible
  • 1 teaspoon paprika adds warmth and color
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley for a subtle herbaceous note
  • 4 large potatoes, cut into fries russet potatoes are ideal
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese for topping the fries
  • Optional ingredients
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary for an elevated herbal twist
  • Red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicy kick
  • Sea salt flakes as a finishing touch
  • Sour cream or garlic aioli for dipping

Instructions

  • Season the beef: In a bowl, combine salt, black pepper, paprika, and dried parsley, then toss the beef cubes until evenly coated.
  • Heat your pan: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil, allowing it to shimmer for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Sear the steak: Working in batches to avoid crowding, add the beef cubes to the hot pan and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked to your desired doneness, then transfer to a plate.
  • Make the garlic butter sauce: Reduce heat to medium, add the butter and minced garlic to the same skillet, stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, then return the beef to the pan and toss to coat.
  • Final touch: Cook for another minute, ensuring all the steak bites are coated in the garlic butter, then remove from heat and set aside.
  • Deep fry method: Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pot, add potatoes in batches for 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy, drain on paper towels, season with salt, and top with grated Parmesan cheese while still hot.
  • Oven method: Toss cut potatoes with a light coating of oil, spread on a baking sheet, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25-30 minutes stirring halfway through, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese in the last 2 minutes of baking.
  • Air fryer method: Place fries in an air fryer basket at 380°F (193°C) for 18-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, then toss with Parmesan cheese immediately after cooking.
  • Arrange the fries: Place a generous portion of hot cheesy fries on your plate, ensuring they're still warm and the Parmesan is melted.
  • Top with steak bites: Arrange the garlic butter steak bites over and around the fries, making sure to drizzle any remaining garlic butter sauce from the pan over the top.
  • Garnish and season: Sprinkle with fresh parsley, red pepper flakes if using, or sea salt flakes for an extra touch of elegance.
  • Serve immediately: Plate while everything is hot and the Parmesan cheese is still melted and gooey.
