Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin sliced into strips about 1/4-inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil divided for cooking
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced into strips
  • 1 yellow bell pepper sliced into strips
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce adds umami depth
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon paprika for subtle smokiness
  • salt to taste
  • 4 large potatoes cut into fries about 1/4-inch wide
  • 2 tablespoons oil for frying
  • 2 cups green leaf lettuce
  • 1 cucumber sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • tomato wedges for added freshness

Instructions

  • Prepare the Crispy Fries: Peel 4 large potatoes and cut them into fries about 1/4-inch wide, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.
  • Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers, about 2 minutes.
  • Fry Until Golden: Carefully add the potato fries in a single layer and fry for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt.
  • Slice the Beef: Cut 1 pound of beef sirloin against the grain into strips about 1/4-inch thick and set aside.
  • Sauté the Beef: In a separate large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat for 1 minute, then add the beef strips and cook for 4-5 minutes until browned on all sides, stirring occasionally, then transfer to a clean plate.
  • Cook the Aromatics: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet, add 2 minced garlic cloves, and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the Peppers: Add 1 sliced red bell pepper and 1 sliced yellow bell pepper to the skillet and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  • Combine and Season: Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon paprika, stirring well to coat all ingredients, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Build the Salad Base: Arrange 2 cups of fresh green leaf lettuce on a plate or in a bowl as the foundation.
  • Add Fresh Vegetables: Top the lettuce with cucumber slices, halved cherry tomatoes, and tomato wedges for a crisp, refreshing contrast.
  • Position the Stir-Fry: Place a generous portion of the beef and pepper stir-fry on top of or alongside the fresh salad.
  • Finish with Fries: Arrange the golden crispy fries on the plate, seasoning with a pinch of additional salt if desired for extra flavor.
